Grand Theft Auto Vice City Story PSP

The Grand Theft Auto Vice City Story PSP is an action packed adventure video game designed by Rockstar North. It is a part of the Grand Theft Auto series and released in 2006 following the success of its predecessor Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. It was also a prequel to the Grand Theft Auto Vice City and set in 1984 in a city based on Miami.   

The protagonist is Victor Vance who works in the U.S army. An idealistic fellow, he gets involved in a drug trafficking by his sergeant Jerry Martinez. He loses his job and is forced to enter the underworld. Lots of killings and betrayals follow over double crossed drug deals. Vic gets into a conflict with the drug lords of the city, the Mendez brothers who are also the chief antagonists of the game. In the end, Vic kills the Mendez brothers with the help of his brother Lance and they promise never to traffic drugs again.  

All the games in the Grand Theft Auto series revolve around a criminal, played by the player, who engages in daring tasks and evades the cops all around the city. It is a third person shooting and driving game where the player has a large open environment setting to move about. However, sometimes the player may choose not to go for a mission and explore the gaming world instead. This is also possible since the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Story PSP is a sandbox style action game, where the player can call for trouble and then have fun shirking the cops.   

In the Vice City Stories, a player must make money by running businesses on the land captured from rival gangs. These businesses could include drugs, smuggling, prostitution, and protection racket among others. Some light additional missions are also available. The player can go on a ‘Beach Patrol’, a new addition to the game where he knocks off bikers from their vehicles to make the beach a safe place. He can also help drowning people and assist paramedics. 

The weapons used in the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Story PSP were carefully chosen because they had to belong to 1984 to make the game look realistic. The M4 rifle was replaced with the M16 since it had not been invented then.  

The Grand Theft Auto Vice City Story PSP was launched in 2006 for the PlayStation Portable in North America and the UK. The PSP is a handheld video game console manufactured by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PSP version allows the game to be played in a multiplayer mode. Up to 6 players can play it in the same area choosing from 10 different modes of play using the WiFi ad-hoc mode. Later on, the game was also released for the PlayStation 2. However, the PS2 mode does not allow the game to be played in a multiplayer mode. The game got moderate reviews from gaming sites as compared to other versions of the game, but became famous for its soundtrack.
