The Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360 - the latest
offering in the Grand Theft Auto series.
It is the first of the fourth generation of
games that allows a player to download the game through the
online services offered by Xbox 360 and play it with other
players across the world. Xbox 360 is the video game console
produced by Microsoft in collaboration with IBM, ATI, Samsung,
and SiS. However, since its launch, it has been facing tough
competition from the other two leading consoles, Nintendo’s Wii
and Sony’s PlayStation3. The game when released across the
world on April 29, 2008, sold 3.6 million units alone on the
first day.
The gameplay of the Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox
360 is similar to other versions. The main character is now
Niko Bellic, an East European immigrant who comes to the
Liberty City (resembling New York City), lured by a rich
lifestyle, and assured by his brother Roman. He ends up being a
criminal after realizing that’s the only way to make a fortune
in this city. Thus begins a third person shooter game. The 3D
representation allows the character enough space to roam about.
The player assumes the role of Niko on the run with the cops
forever at his heels. . He can choose either a storyline form
of game or just roam about the city without any mission, and
spark off incidents to get the cops after him.
The Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360 is the ninth
title to be developed by Rockstar North and the first of its
fourth generation of home video game consoles. This version
allows 16 players to play it online using 15 different modes of
play. A player can choose from either of the racing and
co-operative modes or team based mode.
In the team based mode, we have:
· Team
Deathmatch: 2-8 teams compete to kill the maximum
number of players possible.
· Team Mafiya
Work: 2-8 teams perform contract work for
the mafiya and eventually get involved in a gang
war.
· Team Car Jack
City: 2-8 teams compete in stealing
cars.
· Cops n’ Crooks: A fight between the cops and the gang
men in two forms.
· Turf
War: A battle between two teams over the
control of a specific area.
In the racing and co-operative modes we
have:
· Race: A simple car racing game with
variations allowing players to fight their
opponents and win the race.
· Hangman’s
N.O.O.O.S.E: An exciting co-operative mode where
players are required to escort a gang lord safely
from the airport to his destination, protecting
him from the cops trying to kill him.
· Deal Breaker: A fight at a construction site taken
over by enemies followed by a chase.
· Bomb da Base
II: Capturing and blowing up of a ship
after clearing the cargo.
The Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360 has won rave
reviews from all gaming sites that have declared it as one of
the best things to happen to video gaming.
