Grand Theft Auto 4
Grand Theft Auto 4 - Not just another
video game
In The Game Grand Theft Auto 4. Niko
Bellic, a war veteran of the Bosnian war comes to the U.S to
making a fortune. His place of action is Liberty City, a place
which reminds you of New York City with all its boroughs and
the San Jose County. However, once he arrives there, things
turn out to be different and the promise of good fortune, it
seems, lies in following a dangerous path. He takes up crime
and comes into regular conflicts with the protectors of the
law. This storyline seemed almost realistic and made the game
an instant success world over especially the U.S.

The Grand Theft Auto 4 is the ninth offering
from the Grand Theft series released first in 1997 and
developed by Rockstar North. This is the first time you can
play it online in a multiplayer mode with a maximum of 16
players. There are 15 different modes of play where you can
steal cars, work (kill) for the mafiya, or escort some
important gang lord to safety.
The basic idea behind the Grand Theft Auto 4 is
thrills every second. The player has to play the role of a
criminal who wreaks havoc in the city life of Liberty City. The
twists and turns make the game a great way to let the
adrenaline flowing. Niko Bellic, the player himself steals,
robs, and kills his way up the crime ladder. The end consists
of either him taking a revenge for a betrayal, or striking a
smuggling deal with that same betrayer. Either ways, Niko ends
up killing up that betrayer called
Dmitri.
Niko can shoot without revealing him, target
any particular part of the body, and can even go to a hospital
for recovering his health. Mobile phones can be used for
misguiding the cops and for calling up paramedics. Even people
on the road can use mobile phones to report crimes in their
area.
If the player chooses not to go by this
storyline, and simply roam freely, he has that option, too. Any
slight indication of breaking the law brings the cops into
action and Niko has to fight them with all his equipments,
vehicles, weapons, skills, and tricks. The greater the chaos
created, the higher task forces will be called into action. The
player has full freedom to kill anyone to counter threats. All
the Grand Theft Auto games are known for their no mercy
attitude. But, the Grand Theft Auto 4 is slightly different in
this respect. Sometimes, the player has to make a choice of
sparing any victim or killing him. This may extend to killing
one out of two people. These are ‘morality choices’ introduced
in this version of the game after too much controversy was
formed about the violence in the game.
None of the characters of the previous games
are returning in this version of the game because they are all
dead. Niko is the player himself and the others come from
diverse backgrounds, mostly gangs and other ethnic groups.
